Our most requested show, Alice in Elderland, written by ECWIT's Debbie Brown, is a hilarious parody featuring many familiar characters, all with memorable twists.
The joyful yet realistic perspective on aging will have you not only laughing, but also recognizing the benefits of aging when viewed through a different looking glass.
"This show has you laughing every minute and in the middle of the laughter you discover yourself more deeply!"
"Alice in Elderland took us down a marvelous rabbit hole, giving us a fresh look at ourselves. What a surprise to discover we still are wonderful!"
ECWIT has brewed up a batch of shivery stories perfect for the Halloween season. Combining spooky classics, like Three Skeleton Key and the Monkey's Paw, with local ghost stories, this cauldron of tales will have your spine tingling and your funny bone tickled. BOO!
In letting go of an item, do we lose a piece of ourselves or provide an opportunity for a new story to begin? Common Threads explores this question in an hour-long comedy, A group of friends preparing for a garage sale reminisce over their discarded clothes and share the stories they evoke -- the imposition of tradition in a wedding dress, the feeling of confidence instilled by a pair of cowboy boots, or the wardrobe malfunction of a prom dress. Audience members connect with the common threads of clothing memories, and find that they have untold stories of their own.
"I was moved to tears thinking how much of themselves these women sacrificed so that I, and other women, have a voice in determing our representation."
"Everyone needs to see this show."
As a powerful representation of the history of suffrage, audiences have been surprised by the depth of emotion Failure is Impossible evokes. The League of Women Voters requested the performance of Failure is Impossible as part of a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment to take place in the Chippewa Valley in 2020. Unfortunately, much like the very story of suffrage itself, the celebration was delayed.
However, like the suffragists, the women of ECWIT persisted and the show was first performed at the historic Mabel Tainter Theater in 2022 - where Susan B Anthony herself stood so many years ago!
That's right, ECWIT is going to Hell and we want to take you with us!
Perhaps you've already experienced some Hell on Earth:
Business meetings?
Road construction?
Uncomfortable social interactions?
Ubiquitous advertising?
Rest assured that resing in peace in not on the agenda, but you sure to find this show is funny as all Hell.
Her Other Side weaves together diverse shorts that examine some of the untold stories of women from the perspectives of power, position, and societal norms.
Some of the shorts use humor to explore ideas. For example, did pre-historic women evolve faster than men? How did they view the male-female power dynamic or their role in the family and society?
Other shorts consider hard and often sad truths that women across the ages experience. How do women who have grand-mothering thrust upon them adapt? How must women resist expectations in order to live an authentic life?
Join ECWIT in this exploration of women's stories across time that are often overlooked.

In celebration of Norwegian-American literary giant, Waldemar Agar, ECWIT was commissioned to create and perform dramatizations of some of his writings. One such piece we chose to adapt was the tale of the Ugly Wolverine. ECWIT member, Debbie Brown, decided to take a Hamiltonesque approach to the children's tale and it was a hit with young and old alike.
During the pandemic, ECWIT created the following virtual version of the adaptation.
